Job Overview:
Alto Elevator Company is looking for a motivated Entry-Level Assistant Elevator Technician to join our team. This is an ideal position for someone eager to enter the elevator industry, working alongside experienced technicians on a variety of installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks. As an Assistant Elevator Technician, you’ll gain hands-on experience and develop valuable skills in a supportive environment, with plenty of opportunities for growth and advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist senior technicians in the installation, maintenance, and modernization of elevator systems.
Support with basic repairs and troubleshooting under the guidance of experienced team members.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area at all job sites.
Operate basic tools and equipment, and learn to use specialized diagnostic tools for elevator systems.
Read and interpret simple diagrams, schematics, and instructions to assist in technical tasks.
Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, working in confined spaces, and at heights.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth job site operations.
Travel to various job sites as required and adhere to Alto’s safety and quality standards.
Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification in a relevant field (such as electrical, mechanical, or construction) is a plus.
Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with any hands-on experience in a trade (e.g., construction, electrical work, HVAC) considered an asset.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be able to travel to job sites as needed.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
Strong interest in learning the elevator industry, including installation, maintenance, and repair work.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends.
Good communication skills and a strong team-oriented attitude.

Requirements

  1. Education and Basic Skills

    • High school diploma or GED required.

    • Technical or trade school certification in a relevant field (e.g., electrical, mechanical, or construction) preferred but not mandatory.

    • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with some experience in a hands-on trade (such as construction, electrical work, or HVAC) considered an asset.

  2. Physical Ability

    • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work comfortably in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.

    • Stamina for physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending, climbing, and crouching.

  3. Driver’s License

    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be able to travel to different job sites as needed.

  4. Safety Awareness

    • Basic knowledge of safety practices and willingness to strictly adhere to safety guidelines and protocols in the workplace.

  5. Technical Aptitude and Willingness to Learn

    • Ability to read and follow simple technical instructions, diagrams, and schematics.

    • Strong interest in learning the technical aspects of elevator systems, including installation, maintenance, and repairs.

    • Comfortable using basic tools and willing to learn to operate specialized diagnostic equipment.

  6. Work Ethic and Reliability

    • Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends if required.

    • Willingness to take direction, work under supervision, and assist senior technicians on various tasks.

    • Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining a clean and organized work area.
